Hi, I’m Alyssa.
I am a Registered Psychological Associate with a Master of Psychology Degree in Clinical and Counselling Psychology. I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology with a research emphasis at Wilfrid Laurier University. I currently work in both private practice and inpatient mental health settings providing diagnostic assessments, various psychological interventions, while also participating in ongoing program development.
Since completing graduate school in 2017, I have received training in several evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT & CBT-E), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Acceptance Committment Therapy (ACT). I have worked in settings (inpatient, outpatient and private practice) with a variety of clients who present with mental health concerns relating to eating disorders, relational issues, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, personality disorders and substance use disorders. Once I became autonomous with the CPBAO in 2023, I began supervising students in clinical psychology graduate programs as well as early-career clinicians during their registration process. This has fuelled my desire to work with clinicians in an impactful way.
Why Supervision & Consulting
Upon completing graduate schooling, I decided to register as a psychological associate with the CPBAO. The process involves professionals having to complete 6 years of supervised clinical training, while completing board exams, in lieu of a doctoral degree. It was during this experience I realized how profound of a need there is for quality supervision, consultation and training for clinicians early in their career. I have experienced some excellent mentorship relations as well as faced some challenging supervision dynamics. I know what it means to be a exceptional supervisor and am committed to bringing that into my work with other clinicians. I completed a certification through the University of Ottawa in clinical supervision and plan to bring evidence-based training techniques to all my work. I am passionate about paying it forward to the career that has given me so much and seeing clinicians become autonomous, successful and skilled practitioners is the reward in this work. I can’t wait to cheer you on every step of the way.
